The South San Luis Obispo Sanitation District’s expenditures and bank balances show that during the past 15 months, more than $800,000 cannot be accounted for.
Director Jim Hill compared revenue with expenses and found statement shortfalls during the 2016-17 fiscal year in excess of $650,000. Mr. Hill demonstrated that another $200,000 is unaccounted for since the current fiscal year began in July.
Paul Karp, interim district administrator, said he does not believe the money was stolen, but has not had time to look into the accounting due to employee shortages and maintenance issues. (Source: Cal Coast News, October 24.)
