The San Bernardino City Council voted unanimously January 15 to approve a $630,000 payment to Burrtec, a trash-hauling franchise, to settle a series of disputes over both parties’ performances.
The city imposed a $600,000 penalty on Burrtec for allegedly failing to sweep parking lots as stipulated in its contract. Burrtec said the city owed the company more than $927,000 for additional work that city officials authorized but did not pay for.
The city will use a waste management fund to cover the settlement. (Source: San Bernardino Sun, January 21.)
